A new exhibit both online and in realspace at the Library of Congress: Bound for Glory: America in Color
Bound for Glory: America in Color is the first major exhibition of the little known color images taken by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information. These vivid scenes and portraits capture the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations, the nation’s subsequent economic recovery and industrial growth, and the country’s great mobilization for World War II.
It’s really really cool to see photos from this era in color; it really changes one’s perspective.

Wow, I’ve been by that building a hundred times at least. In fact, that’s the newspaper I delivered when I was a kid. Sadly, downtown Brockton looks about the same today…. Did you see the two stories in the window about earthquakes?

The detail on these pictures is quite amazing. It really shows the era in a different light. I will need to get some of these on my site!
This reminds me of when my little cousin asked me when he was about 2: “Why was everything grey in the olden days?”
I can now show him that it wasn’t!
